2.5 hours of glory

What a day it was. The installation of the new / 3rd air conditioning unit for TNC's data center. Over the last 4 years, we have more than doubled our number of servers, and the power and heat generated by today's servers are double that made by servers from those days. So....we need more cooling...now!! On this day, June 22nd, 2007, the new AC arrives. The dry cooler aka condenser goes to the roof with the other 2 existing ones. The AC unit itself goes to the expansion room we are building out onto the data center.

The crane is here!

Here comes the drycooler! I'm a fan of them I am.

If you look close....water bottle on top of the dry cooler....wonder how that stayed on on the highway. (If you tried moving your face closer to the picture, and hey who wouldn't.....try clicking it instead).

Everyone knows no crane is ready until it has stickers. Wonder if I can get them to put on my extra Jimmie's Chicken Shack sticker.

Poppin' a wheelie. Hey wait a minute, is it supposed to do that?

Crane operator chases tourists out of the work area....I know this operation is all very fascinating, but....

Readying the arm....

I want to party with this guy.

Hey where'd my water go?

Danny from Foulger Pratt monitors the situation.

WO grubb. I don't want to know.

Russell and co. from ABG coordinate with the crane operator.

Lyndon, Joe, and Stephan from ESO enjoy the distraction....

Lyndon and Ray survey the operation. Two of TNC's most beloved veteran staff.

Did you order a ball?

Speaking of....

Getting serious now....

This was the first load - a hand cart with tiles arrives at the roof, missed getting the shot of the load. Good thing this photography thing is not my profession.

ABG starts to strap the drycooler.

Take er' up!

Wait a minute....bring it back....we need some advertising for Liebert.

Ok, let's try that again.

Where'd that water go?

Up she goes! (Good thing those tourists cleared the area).

This is almost as cool as the space shuttle.

Last load, copper piping, arrives on the roof. ABG positions the just lifted drycooler over on the right.

And there is the new drycooler in its new home. Nice job guys! Now it's Guiness time. Not really. Hey, there's that handcart.

Now we're in the expansion room for the data center where the brains and brawn of the new AC are installed. This is a new dual compressor 15 Ton unit, with the panels still off (brought upstairs disassembled in 3 very large pieces). Lyndon admires the wares. Wow - this is way bigger than our 10 Ton units.....

You know you're a geek when this gets you really excited!

Macro shot of one of the compressors. I know you're impressed.
